The body dampers were removed as part of a TSB to cure the knock. Not convinced they would do anything.

They are big harmonic dampers bolted onto the chassis rails.

Perhaps you can be forewarned by my experience? When I had the 'knocking over poor road surfaces' fault an LR Dealership just threw my cheque book at it by changing the front ARB bushes, chucking away the front pair of body dampers, bolting on the big lumps of pig iron (oh sorry - carefully engineered 'harmonic dampers') and renewing the whole ARC bar assembly. Total bill around 2K.

Your right Paddi, sometimes wonder if the LR mechanics know what there doing or LR themselves ?? Just back from LR workshop they have fitted another pair of ARB's, and agian the cars silent not a knock squeek our rattle. So it looks like my Sport eats ARB's it's only 29000 miles used only on normal roads I even avoid pot holes And speed bumps. My Sport will be 3 yrs old next July 2013 Does this mean LR is then off the hook and I will need to buy ARB's in bulk by the box ?

If you do keep it once it is out of warranty |

Probably will be keeping her for few yrs past warranty so when ARB's start to go again I will do as you have done & fit the shims

Think the ARB bush shims were an interim fix by LR and then the ARB bushes were upgraded. Interested to know if DM fitted the shims to the later bushes or just in addition to the earlier bush?

You would have to think that with the constant stream of these issues that the original design and manufacture is "not fit for purpose" and any repair cost should be recoverable from LR - it would rely on getting independent data as proof! |

You would think that just an extra 1mm or 2mm on the bush would tighten the whole lot up, and help prevent it knocking.
