England

Problem is that because they 'only' paid £1800 for it, they'll happily let it sit on their books until someone comes along and they get their £4k.
My advice, phone them and stick the offer on the table, say £2.5k and do nothing more. I guarantee they will call you back within a couple of weeks Wink Then refuse their next lowest and wait for another call a few weeks later.

I recently bought a plate for less than 50% of the advertised price with regtransfers.
I put the offer on the table via a call and followed up with an email, then, whenever they contacted me, I said I wasn't prepared to go any higher than my offer and I was looking elsewhere. Over the course of 3 months, they came down to my offer price. I agreed that I would buy it that day and the deal was done.

Once they realise you are serious about a plate they will look to get your money, I can't believe the market is particularly strong for car plates at the moment, so hold your nerve and see what happens. Good luck Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

That's a good way of getting them down if they think you are not bothered if you lose it...

PS it was less than 1800 Shocked .... Censored

The mark up is obscene. Mad
I've missed out on a couple of plates at DVLA auctions. One went for £1900 (my highest bid was £1800).
The very next day, I get a call from the company asking me if I wanted it for £6000 Shocked Censored ....feeky chuckers..... ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
