New Zealand 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
Battery 'trickle charger'.

Hi - i am soon to head off overseas for 6 weeks. The car will be parked up and left until i return. I am wondering if as well as lowering the suspension it might be beneficial to connect the battery to a charger allowing it to be maintained.

Having checked there are a number of options open to me but i am curious whether or not anyone has any experience in using these chargers and if so what are your thoughts.

If i do purchase one then does it have to have a particular output ?

The one i have seen is as follows - INPUT 240V, 50Hz, 28W
OUTPUT 1600mA (2.5A RMS*) at 12.0V
CHARGE CONTROL: (Cut out: 14.2V) (Cut in: 13.4V) (Start: 5.0V)

Thanks. RRS TDV6 HSE

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Rimini Red

I've got a ctek xs 3600 and it's worked wonders for me on many vehicles. I've had a P38 Range Rover which barely lasted a week without going flat, a BMW 5 series which I didn't use for over a month and both vehicles started first time after being connected to the charger.

It's also helped me get a car started when the battery has been too flat to crank within 30mins of leaving it connected and helped revive a couple of old batteries which he thought were past their best.

I believe this model has been superseded now but I won't buy anything other than ctek now, after trying other cheaper brands!

I can recommend CTEK also, I have used these on all my cars and they are easy to use and perform well.

I left my RRS outside last time I went away for 6 weeks and it was flat when I returned. The CTEK had it charged within a day to normal , then run the car afterwards with as little load on , light off etc to allow the alternator to fully charge the battery in normal way. no lasting effect.
I have installed the permanent wiring leads to the battery so it's just a plug and leave affair.
