Spare Wheel Stolen !!

Usual story as others on here, some toerag(s) have stolen my spare wheel Evil or Very Mad

I knew of the RLD protector and thought I will get round to it and in the meantime always ensure I park the back of the car against a wall or something. I still didn't get around to getting a protector and now the wheel is gone. Only myself to blame for that Embarassed

I have seen that people recommend Dan for a good deal on the spare and the winch but i had a few questions:

- I haven't looked yet but how will I know if I need the winch as well or is it always needed if they have cut the cable?

- Is it a straight forward DIY job for me to replace the winch ?

...and this time I will definitely be buying the RLD protector before I replace the wheel !

Thanks for your help. Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Feel your pain Big Cry

save yourself looking they will of cut the wire.

Anew version of the winch is out that stops them being able to pull the wire down to cut it, but the RLD protector is a must.

The winch replacement is about 4-6 nuts, dead easy 15 mins max, old one out new one in Very Happy

Was lucky and picked up a spare on the forum total cost with new winch RLD plate and wheel just under £270. Now driving a rather smart looking Van

Have you considered tyre repair foam or similar?
I still have a spare on the car but my wife would never use it, so thinking of getting a can of foam to get her home should she have a puncture. Has anyone used this? Would it be suitable as a replacement to a spare wheel?

Next day after I bought the car I ordered a wheel protector (thanks to people on this forum).

If you knew about this than you deserve the "pain". You have an advantage now that the car is lighter without the spare wheel Rolling with laughter

And don't buy a spare off eBay, you'd be fanning the flames.
