Female Dog Owners

It seems my posts get more and more off topic....... Off Topic

Looking for some info from female dog owners.

We have a 6 month old French Bulldog bitch who has just come into season.

Having always had boys this is a bit of a new one for me.

To put it bluntly she is bleeding all over everything and her lady parts are incredibly swollen and basically "hanging out" which is not at all pleasant to look at!!

I understand this is normal but how long does it last, when is it acceptable to get them spayed and once spayed can I assume this never happens again?

thanks

We have a 6 month old bitch now for the first time having always had dogs before and dreading her first show as we did not know what to expect Embarassed

Some info here http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/breedingheat.htm

You can get pants apparently to save a mess and keep randy dogs off Laughing

I was told to let her have her first then get her spayed after but SWMBO is now considering letting her have a litter when she is old enough and keeping a girl to continue the line in the future Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Have two bitches - Border Terriers, one you can hardly tell she has a season & the other well as you describe.

Usually only lasts a few days

We had the second one speyed & just bred with the first one & that is pretty scary when you do not know WTF is happening !

Good luck.

& I only started reading because I thought you were talking about the fairer sex owning dogs ! Paul

oh the joys of having a bitch, my mother in law has one and its a nightmare, luckily we have laminated and tiled floor and she didn't need to go on to the new carpet

We only had her a couple of days and the red patches left were she sat did my head in, i felt i had a bottle of detal cleaner and kitchen roll in my hand all day

they ended up having her spade to solve the problem
