WINDSCREEN CLEANING?

I've followed the advice of using Vinagar and News Papers but I just cannot get all the oil film off my windscreen!! What am I doing wrong - any sugestions? I travel long distances, some times at night and having a really clean screen at the start of the trip is becoming a must. Andrew Kennedy

I've found AutoGlym's Fast Glass to be pretty good - fast and simple to use. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Film on inside or outside? I use mr muscle glass cleaner on the inside, removes nicotine and air con mist perfectly lol. Don't use anything other than rainEx on outside. Lots of glass cleaner had silicone in it and wipers smear and spread it. Clean the glass with white spirit or petrol and fit new blades as they will be contaminated now. Also, not wanting to preach, but put a high concentration or even pure mix you can buy, of screen wash in the car. Often over looked! 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Hi,

If it was me I would use a degreaser such as surfex HD with some warm water & car shampoo. Then rinse and dry the screen and then clay the glass with a medium grade clay. Such as dj gentle grey with megs las touch as lube. Then give the screen a good ipa wipe down. That should completly remove traffic film and the 'greasy' residue that you wish to remove.

If you do a lot of miles I would really suggest fitting 3 coats of G1 and 1-2 coats of EXO. That's should last about 18 months and will stop anything bonding to the window. It will also stop:

-ice attaching itself in the mornings.
-no need for wipers after 40mph.
-super clear vision in all hazardous weather.

Well worth fitting to the windscreen and very cheap to do! Always clean.
