Definitely didn't shut the bonnet with anything in my hand, the screwdrivers were on the driveway, on the floor. I did wonder though whether I had somehow done it when I shut the bonnet, but I am pretty certain my hand was not in that area and would it dent that easily from pushing it shut?

No, I ruled out all these... I am calmer about it, but it still pains me. I think I know where it happened, as it's so noticable I would not have missed it. I am 99% suer it must have occured while it was parked at Luton Airport Parkway train station on Monday, it was fine over the weekend, looked over the car last thing Saturday before garaging it, didn't use it Sunday, and then monday drove to Luton. How it happened is anyones guess...

I am just focussing now on getting it fixed ASAP, I simply can't leave it.

Driven passed any horse chestnut trees lately? Just a thought, but as the conkers are now starting to fall, maybe one hit your bonnet while on the move. Matt

RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

I had the chap from Auto Dents in Leicester come out to see the car yesterday. His name is Rob and actually he does a lot of work for Land Rover dealers, every wednesday he is at Stratstone in Nottingham apparently.

He told me how it might be fixed and then set about having a go, unfortunately it would appear that my dent is in an area where the double skin prevents getting a probe to the underside of the dent to tap it out, otherwise it could have been repaired.

My only choice now is to take it to the dealership and get their bodyshop to quote me for filling and spraying, or, replacement of the bonnet.

I am trying to see if I can live with it instead but it is the first thing anyone sees when they look at the front of the car. I reckon a repair will be around £400, I'll find out tomorrow...  L319 D4 HSE

Oh no... i feel for you mate, i really do..
Im not having much luck with mine either if thats any consolation.

Even though i park in the middle of two spots and try and take parking bays away from other cars, i have still managed to obtain two slight door dings one either side and some **shole has scratched my passenger front wing above the wheel arch! about 4 cm and its quite deep..

Managed to keep both my last two Bmw's absolutely pristine with not even a tyre rubbed on a kerb, so im hating this.. i reckon dentmasters will beable to sort it out, but it still hurts!

I'd recommend calling Rob of Auto Dents, he was a nice chap, he mentioned he has worked on Rosemary Conley's Bentley, she's very local to me here, and her car features on his website gallery.

Simple dents, well, even as bad as mine are £45 to fix. If you took it to a Landrover dealer more than likely they'd call one of these chaps to fix things. You'd have to check how far he is willing to travel though.

They really are tiny dings, nothing like on his website, but they are just annoying, as my eyes just get drawn to them immediately when looking at the car.. does he do scratch covers too!?

Not sure, you'd have to ask him, but I think he specialises in Paintless Dent Removal, so perhaps not. He knows people though who can help on that front I am sure. L319 D4 HSE

OK, had a quote today from the bodyshop man at Stratstones.....

The only repair possible is to fill the dent and then respray, but respray the entire bonnet, oh and they'd have to replace the bonnet badge as that get's destroyed by removing it.

Total cost: £374 inc VAT.

The work will take 3 days...

And then I assume you'd want to put your tape protection back on again. I guess the bonnet film is the most expensive item from the kit. Matt
