United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Maya Gold
Replacing Struts

My car has a real issue on bumpy surfaces, like b roads etc, and even over some parts of A roads too. Main dealer (Charles Hurst, Belfast) have looked at it three times and said, "nothing wrong with it sir", but it seems worse than ever. I think the shocks are shot - it has the right behaviour for that and an independent specialist thought the same.
I'm planning on buying 4 new complete units through a local motor factor's from Delphi and fitting them myself - i'm not a novice, just maybe out of practice Very Happy

I'd like to know if anyone has used 3rd party struts (well - complete units, so no airbag rebuild needed). I heard that Delphi are the original suppliers to LR so i'm thinking that using their parts will be OK, but i'd appreciate any advice! It'll save me hundreds against the genuine LR parts (500 i think)

Also if anyone has done the same job, any observations or advice welcome!!

Gonna re-do the handbrake shoes, plus new disks and pads on the back too....... More parts from delphi i think, unless anyone has better ideas?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!! Maya Gold TDV6 HSE, only 72k miles! Still put's a smile on my face every time i press the loud pedal...

Hello
You can get genuine struts with the air springs complete for around £200 a corner.
The job is fairly straight forward, just remember to deflated the air before starting any work

Hi shepp - any idea where? I'm being quote way over 300 plus VAT for genuine LR parts. The delphi units are about 210 and 220 plus vat.

hello
the link above is a quick search from google, when i get home i will check my bookmarks, i sure i found some for 200 inc vat,
Also all the rrs original style shock and air spring are made in the same factory, weather they say genuine or aftermarket, only difference is the packaging.

hello
http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/suspension-fro..._2631.html
The delphi ones are identical/same as genuine. you just pay for the sticker,
I even ordered an aftermarket air spring a few years ago, came in an aftermarket box but with a lr sticker on the part.

Brilliant Shepp - i think I'll call them and give them my VIN just to make sure I get the right parts (can't decide if I have Ace or not)

Cheers Maya Gold TDV6 HSE, only 72k miles! Still put's a smile on my face every time i press the loud pedal...

Ace are the active cornering enhancement, are your anti roll bars fixed or are they adaptive, should show up which one on a vin search, or just look in your handbook

It's definitely got the DSC 6 big button on the dash board for that one, and it seems looking at the parts that they either are for "with DSC & ACE" or without. No splitting of that - but I'll check to be sure.

Cheers - a big saving!!!! I think I can do a few lore things now - like change the gerbox sump / oil filter and al the brakes / disks. Good job I have 2 weeks off!! Maya Gold TDV6 HSE, only 72k miles! Still put's a smile on my face every time i press the loud pedal...

Look under the bonnet to see if you have Dynamic Response ie active anti roll bars or ACE. If the DR fluid reservoir is missing you don't have it.

Hope this helps.

If you have a Britpart dealer local to you, they come boxed as OEM.

Normally don't endorse Britpart, but when it's OEM, and less than half the price, you cant go wrong Thumbs Up

Also, Microcat list the same shocks for 2.7 TDV6, 4.4 V8 + 4.2 S/C V8's. Only list a different number for 3.6 TDV8 Thumbs Up
