Hi Guys, new to the forum but I hope you can help.
Just bought an '05 TDV6 RRS which ran perfectly for the first week - no warning lights, started first click.
Jumped in this morning after a 36h lay off and it won't start - lots of warning lights but nothing from the starter.
Battery was replaced 18 months ago wiith a Bosch 800A 95Ah - is it the battery or alternator on its way? - would hate to replace the battery and find it was the alternator all along!

If the battery is that flat then it probably needs changing anyway.

Be worth checking the switch for the upper portion of the tailgate (the glass bit). These are known to corrode and short out the battery resulting rapid draining of same. Pull off the rubber switch cover to check the switch.

Otherwise you need to get the alternator output checked once you can get it running. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Get the alternator checked asap, common fault on these can lead to you being stranded or can cook the battery.

Had to have my battery replaced a couple of weeks after I bought mine. Was stood a while so the battery died. However even after new battery was fitted the car would not start. It turned over but would not fire up. It turned out the ECU had 'desynched' itself from the car and it needed resetting. What a nightmare I had finding that out. Even had my fuel tank drained thinking I had accidently put petrol instead of diesel in
