A colleague from w.. w.. (worked hard to prevent stating it .. DOH !!!) as just come back from a 3 week trip across the North of Australia, between Port Douglas and Darwin. He hired a Toyota Landcruiser (which had after market shocks to make it more robust, long range tanks and many other survivor based extra's), They went through a few tracks (sorry roads) that had been closed to traffic.

Some good points ST, it seem the Northern Territory is actually Landcruiser Territory from what i have been told, they seem to have a well known reliability factor and toughness about them, practical but bl00dy ugly looking though imho
