United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

@oldcro

Good point. I think the problem is that winter tyres last for 2 or 3 winters so most people will have little experience of changing to different brands.

I'd seen good reports about the Goodyears and have used various Goodyear tyres over the years and found them to be decent. Our Skoda currently has their OptiGrip tyre fitted all round. A decent tyre and actually did pretty well in snow a couple of years ago. I have no doubt that a dedicated Goodyear winter tyre would be a top performer. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I think I go for Michelin Latitude Diamaris. Anyone here who thinks I make a bad choice?

Your choice is not a winter tyre, if you choose Michelin then Latitude Alpin are winter tyres for SUV's in your chosen size. Winter tyres have a snowflake symbol on them, check the Michelin site for full info.

As oldcro says, make sure you have ordered the right tyres.......................

If you have gone for the Alpin thats fine for a winter tyre but the Latitude is NOT a winter tyre.

Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme is a very popular tyre, we have been selling and fitting these for many years, alkso worth a look is the Quadtrac 3, a very good all season tyre. Thumbs Up Please call us 01737 241370 for the quickest response Smile

Not at all, it's just that I could not find Michelin Latitude Alpin HP tyres only Michelin Latitude Alpin tyres in your chosen sizes. They may well exist and the site I checked only listed tyres they had in stock. So if they do exist I'm sure you will be more than pleased with your choice.

The LR approved winter tyres in 275/40/20 are the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 suv and the Continental CrossContact Winter. Just in case you wanted to know. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Almost very right and correct Smile

I called LR and they said that the ONLY and ONLY approved winter tyres are Continental CrossContact Winter tyres and Michelins.

I decided and ordered the Continental CrossContact Winter from a local garage for £1,116.
LR asked for £379 per tyre Rolling with laughter

Thank you all.

VERDICT: best winter tyre does not exist Rolling with laughter

Get the one you are happy with but DO JOT GET THE WINTER MICHELINS.

Thumbs Up /|\

Switzerland 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Bonatti Grey

Just ordered the Pirelli Ice and Snow 255/50R 19 107V. They will be fitted next week. Read good reviews on them with the only downside that they wear quickly. I guess the softer the rubber the better the grip but also the quicker wear. Will use them to go skiing every weekend in the French and Swiss Alps. Gone:
2010 Bali Blue, Reverse Camera, Winter Pack, Privacy Windows, Sunroof, Steel Tread Plates.

You don't NEED to fit winter tyres to an RRS, the Terrain Response works very well even on 20" wheels and tyres. I ran the length of the UK from Southampton to Stirling the day that Basingstoke got cut off from the rest of the UK on my 20" summer tyres and drove from Gretna to Stirling in up to 4" of the white stuff on the M74 without any incident, some of the "designer" SUV's (notably Q7's and X5's) were mostly stuck in it going nowhere because they were running high speed ULP road tyres.
I did run mine after that on winter tyres and also run my current Evoque on a set from October to March, but they are not a necessity in the UK 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
