Towbar knackered?..

When towing lately noticed the green handle is moving forward and this is causing the towbar to move in its housing. Should the handle be able to turn at all when the key is removed and its in the locked position? I think it possibly shouldn't but need to be sure before I purchase a new one Big Cry

Also are the towbars on eBay from reliable stock bit worried on the price difference between genuine and others Shocked Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.
Here 110 black edition defender.

I always lock and remove the key when I use my towbar - you can turn the green handle part way but it springs back and will not release Thumbs Up

Sounds like it might need lubrication - possibly not engaging correctly Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Muddy
Tried greasing the runners and PTFE lube in the lock , the towbar is engaged it just seems strange that once the keys removed that I can turn the handle so the towbar becomes loose but still locked seems like all the strain would be put on the pin, and this is what's happening when the caravans been on for a while. Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.

Does not sound good - worth a trip to stealers in case they have a fix before you fork out for a new one Sad

Would definatly not tow with it until you get it sorted - helped a guy with a bmw a few years ago on York bypass who's caravan and tow bar had detached when he braked at the roundabout - was not pretty and ruined his holiday plans Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
