choices choices..! diary of a rrs virgin

hey guys

im looking to get an rrs, after going through parkers, autotrader and LR site, i've come to the conclusion that theres just way too many choices thanks to the number of extras and trims there are. thought id get some input from owners to help me put some perspective. engine wise, i would be looking to get either a 2.7 TDV6 or 3.6 TDV8. Doubt my budget would allow me to tap into the more recent 3.0 TDV6 or SDV6 simply because i have high requirement for other spec like equipment.

firstly does anyone have the pdf file that would detail the standard features of a HSE 2.7 TDV6 & TDV8. what you get extra in the autobiography trim. also has the level of kit changed much over the years?

other areas im looking for help on

1. exterior wise, im looking for something beefed up. HST or overfinch seems to be what i have in mind. are these factory trims. where can i read about these trims i.e what you get over and above a standard rrs when it is a HST or overfinch model?

2. the rrs is clearly very generously spec'd. coming from a highly spec'd bmw 5series, these are some features that i would definitely want as a minimum. from my reading so far, i believe all these come as standard in an HSE TDV8 - am i correct? would any of these need to have been added as an optional extra?

a. keyless entry and keyless push button start
b. hard drive with usb port to copy mp3s on board
c. usb port to play music off a usb stick or a phone (connected via usb cable)
d. internet or some sort of real time news feed
e. sat nav that you can send address to via google maps on a laptop
f. front & rear parking sensors with rear camera
g. paddle shift
h. cruise control with auto-breaking (slow down if the car in front is too close)
i. telephone connectivity that can sync address book from your phone (via bluetooth or cable)
j. adaptive xenons that turn when you corner and high beam assistant (dip the full beam when it detects an oncoming vehicle in country roads) - think these two are not standard

finally i know there was a facelift couple years ago - if i want the model with the clear indicator lights and led lights - would that have to be one of the facelift models or was it available as an extra in the earlier ones?

think that covers it for now. as per title, total rrs n00b so pls go easy! happy to just read off links but so far it all seems confusing!

Welcome to the forum... Now wake up...I think you must be dreaming... Shocked

None of that lot comes on a 2.7 tdv6 and the only thing on a 3.6 tdv8 that you will get is active headlights.

Not sure what comes on the later models ie 2010/11/12 but you are going to be paying a minimum of £32-35000 for the later models. Then add in the Overfinch side of things and you are up to £40000 +

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

They are still great though Bow down

thats no problem mate. thought the active cruise control was standard on the TDV8 HSE ? although to be fair most of the info out there regards the later models so its possible LR have made some of this standard now but it wasnt before? looking at http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/land...equipment/
do you know the name of the packs the previous owner have had to purchase to get these extras?

Yes you're right ithe adaptive cruise is std on the v8.
The other options were not available at all. Cameras and music can be fitted but that's about it.
Don't think the 2010/11 models were offered with a lot more to be honest MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

The Parkers info looks right but an hse say 2010 with all the bits ain't gonna be cheap, I would guess (and it is a guess) maybe £35000. I'm sure some of the members with the later cars are able to give you better info than me to be honest. Good luck with the purchase and don't forget to put some pictures up when you find the right car Thumbs Up MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I've been doing loads of research myself recently, and have generally used the Internet to find specs brochures and price lists so as to understand what came with what.

Initially I narrowed my search down by visiting a dealer and taking a look at the cars.
I'd thought I wanted a TDV8, but when I saw the face lifted interior (late 2009) that was what I wanted, and largely ruled out the TDV8 which was being phased out by the 3.0 TDV6.

Then it was a case of looking into trim levels and searching for the key items, most of which were standard on the HSE.

Unfortunately my initial budget expectations were not met, and £30k soon became £40k, but I've found a car with almost all the options I wanted, plus some I didn't.

So the key is to narrow your search down and just go looking to see if the package you want is out there. Thumbs Up

this sounds like me!
there are other ppl on this planet just like me!

I have also come to the conclusion that i am more inclined towards a 2010 V6 especially with that updated interior dash as opposed to the industrial looking (sorry but true imo!) one on the pre 2010 TDV8
alas budget will not allow me to own one of those I'll live with a TDV8 HSE without all the luxury i was initially after. realised if i want this beast for what it is, i gotta give up hope for all the tech which lets face it land rover doesn't seem to be a big fan of
