United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
To extend warranty or not !!

My RRS is 3 tomorrow and the warranty expires.

Land Rover want £945 for the year.

I've never had an extended warranty before and I think it is because of reading this forum I'm leaning towards getting it.

I know people come on forums to report faults and get the information to rectify them so it is biased towards faults on the car.

It just seems that anything that goes wrong is expensive.

My car has 60,000 miles on and was serviced and MOT'd last week - no problems.

Does anyone have any experience of a car this age going forward ie any faults that were thrown up the year after the warranty expired ?

You could have 5 years of happy motoring or 2 days later need a new engine...you just dont know.

Consensus on here would be to get a warranty, i can see why Mike

I had a 57 TDV8 for 2 years, purchase the extended warranty the 1st year and only front suspension bushes went which where not even covered, 2nd year I didn't bother and nothing went wrong,it has 95000 when sold. Saying that I've just swapped it for a 10 TDV8 and it's come with LR warranty and the feeling to have piece of mind is overwhelming, I'd buy it Thumbs Up to save the Big Cry later 10 TDV8 Santorini

My 57 plate TDV8 came with LR Approved Warranty. In the first year they covered a new alternator, a new starter motor, new ARB bushes front and a new rear dynamic response ARB. The rear ARB alone was £800 plus fitting (which was a body-off job).

I renewed the Approved Warranty this year for c.£900. Next year it will only be eligible for the Select Warranty. But I will get a warranty of some form, that's for sure. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My renewal letter arrived last week even though my warranty runs until the end on November.

To soften the blow I just pay by direct debit monthly Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies.

After consideration I'm not going to renew.

I've never had extended warranty with any of the cars I've owned including Porsches.

I think this forum has me paranoid.

Well I'll take my chance and see what happens. 2009 3.6 TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
