I don't remember why Marcus sold the sport, I know he went sporty again with a GTR I think.

Daz

Gilford? - he went for an Audi RS4!

Ah thats right, I remember now, he decided against the GTR with servicing costs..... I actually miss the old sport but needed more space so the Disco was a compromise, if only you could get a TDV8 Disco!

Daz 2017 4.4 Autobiography FFRR - love this car
Gone - VW T5 Transporter
Long gone - 2009 Disco
Long gone but never out of my thoughts - 2008 TDV8 HST

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Lee,

I picked up a TDV8 after totalling a 997. You'll love the truck...it is not a sports car in any way Smile My dash is stating 21.7mpg average for lots of mixed road mileage. I tried other versions, but the TDV8 sounds and drives much better IMHO...

TDV8 is an awesome machine even when standard. Try one you might feel you don't need to have it mapped. I have one and love it...but saying that I've just committed to having it mapped by Alive Tuning Cool

I would definitely want it mapped Very Happy

Im just worried i will get bored quickly, but saying that i cannot use all the M3's performance on the road anyhow so have found myself sticking to speed limits a lot lately due to the amount of traffic on the roads Sad Is the Range your daily drive or have you got another fast toy tucked away in the garage?

Very Happy

Boredom is going to be a very personal thing Smile I needed a nice safe transport after hanging upside down in the last vehicle...not to be recommended Exclamation

Daily driver...And a great one at that....only bit i miss is track days, and somehow I think the RRS would be the wrong tool for those Smile

I have another toy, but it is a mid nineties defender that is never going to be described as fast Mr. Green

How do you find the Range when your following traffic that is doing 50mph, has it got enough get up and go to over take or is it a bit of a suicide mission? Laughing

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Luxury Orkney Grey

Hi Lee. I currently run both. Wife has the TDV8 and I have the M3. Fuel consumption wise there's not a lot in it. Sport averages 3-4 mpg better than the M3 in normal driving. However to drive they are both very different beasts and I tend to drive them as so. Whilst the M3 is made to go licence losingly quick it's also docile and comfortable on the daily drive to work. I bought the sport predominantly to fit the family in and waft around and so first looked at the Tdv6 but after driving the TDV8 there was only one option. The rumble and torque in the mid range puts a smile on your face everytime you overtake something and with the dynamic suspension pack and big brembo brakes it's not bad in the twisties for such a big lump. It's no M3 and so if you're after a comparable drive forget the sport, but if you accept it will be fundamentally a different driving experience but a bit of fun in much smaller doses the TDV8 is hard to beat IMO.

We are just about to swap ours and have contemplated an X5 40d and had a new SDV6 for the day. The latter is a very good motor and I worry that the X5 will try to be too much like the M3. Will find out next week when I get one to try out. But having just come back from a week away in the TDV8, it's covered in mud, sand and kids sweets and I find myself this morning looking for another one as new and as low mileage that I can find. The problem is they are now like hen's teeth. Land Rover please put the 4.4 TDV8 in the Sport!
