Looking to buy a year old FFR this week from my local main dealer.

One Previous owner but highish miles at 34K. Assured it was a one owner Land Rover management fleet car. I checked the log book to see the previous keeper and noted it was Paragon automotive not LR Company Vehicles.

After a little digging it looks like Paragon lease vehicles to daily rental companies then sell them back to the manufacturer. Would I be correct in thinking that this may be an ex rental vehicle...?

A one owner vehicle is not in my mind and ex rental that may well have led a very hard life.

Any advice would be appreciated... Allan

Rental cars are the worst treat cars on the road, they are unloved and usually abused, it may sound a good deal right now, but i'd be asking myself is it going to give me problems later on. It obviously still has warranty but if ownership is going to be spoilt by regular visits to the dealer for faults occuring due to its hard start in life then you may well be kicking yourself. However, having said that, it might not give you a minutes problem and be a good buy. Only you can decide, personally i wouldn't touch an ex rental car because i am enthusiastic about my motors and care how they have been treat if buying second hand, which isn't often, i usually buy new.

That's my concern. My 09 RRS has been faultless the only time it has been to LR were for its regular services.

An ex rental is likely to be a whole load of problems waiting to happen. I would expect it will have been abused from mile one.

Just done a bit more digging and this is apparently not uncommon (!) and something the OFT were looking into for dealers in general.

Going to stay with my RRS until next year and getting another new one although not from there. It really has been the best car I have ever had and I'm kind of attached to it now...!

I think 'Pentagon' has an arrangement with JLR or the other way around and 'manages', services or 'finances' the company's fleet.

So it can still be a JLR car but the financiers/owners for corporate tax, VAT purpose etc are Pentagon - again I think this is right but can't put my hands on the paperwork to verify so ask your seller a direct question.
