Police Officer saves drowning boy in Southend - Video

Just came accross this on the BBC website.

A Police Officer (PC Martin Knights) swam out to a drowning 13 year old boy and rescued him in Southend.

THe person with the towel was the other copper I think and had all of his gear on. Falling in with a stab vest and accessory belt on probably wouldn't be a great idea... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

There was a report recently about a beach lifeguard being sacked because he rescued someone who wasn't in the water in front of his bit of beach (I think that was the reason). Now that was ridiculous.

And don't blame everything on "health and safety" - the usual problem is that the insurance companies get arsey and refuse cover. The excuse given is "health and safety" but it's usually actually "insurance company telling us what we can do in order to get cover". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
