TDI especially and TD5 land rover engines are known for going on well after the body gave up - i know 300k on an original engine and gear box and the engine was transplanted from a disco to a toy off road defender for another 50-60k and still it works fine. Mike

maybe your right. its just my preference that when i buy a car i buy it new so that no one has driven it before me.

I wish LR would do a collect from factory option like Mercedes etc. That way you can get it down to a handful of other drivers. Before you drive away from the dealer at least a dozen other people have driven your pride and joy. Some don't care eithier, it isn't thier car. I've seen Ford's come off a transporter, revs hitting the limiter and so on just to go a few hundred yards.

At least LR products don't go via a dock (yet) to get to us. Some of those get horrendous abuse. Rolling Eyes Shocked

^^^ I know how you feel. I can't bare the thought of anyone driving my baby. Not quite so bad now as my TDV8 had 12,000 on the clock when I got her as they had stopped production by then. Big Cry

I'm doing mega miles with mega smiles - passed 70,000 a couple of weeks ago. Still can't do valet parking though, the mere thought of it sends a shiver down my spine.....

It's just a car! Bloody hell, anyone would think people were asking to shag your missus! Rolling Eyes 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

When I did the Solihull factory tour last year, the chap taking me round said they were about to start building a customer handover area as that's one of the most requested options, so you never know it might happen soon. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

I could be way off the mark, but with regard to Land Rover, I think I'd rather a dealer PDI'd the car rather than someone from the factory as I can't imagine it being done particularly diligently........... Whistle ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Average mileage dependant on if your buying or selling Laughing

I bought a Cayman with 11k on it 12 months old...i was told it was "average mileage"

When I went to sell it with 24k on it after another 18 months I was told by Porsche that the average mileage for a Porsche was 6k and so mine was actually a high mileage car Rolling Eyes RRS gone

Spain 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Galway Green

My year old RRS has 22 k on it, my Disco TD5 has 150,000.00 miles on it and my previous td5 had 450,000.00 on when the gearbox went tits up, but is still running after a gearbox replacement.

The british are the ones who worry about calling anything over 50,000.00 high mileage, go to Germany and check out what they consider high mileage, we are well short of the mark in the U.K.

Good point on the German front, I remember a taxi driver telling me that his C180 taxi was just starting to loosen up at 200K

My 56 plate 2.7 has just gone over 130,000 miles and going strong. Serviced it myself last week and seems like it's been well looked after. The only issue I've had is the common coolant sensor problem but it only comes on every now and again so it doesn't bother me.

Both my VW golf project cars have had 1.8t engines put in them with over 90k miles and they run sweet. High mileage isn't really the issue - it's how well they've been taken care of. Very Happy
