Just been talking to my wife who was following me to the garage to return the car for a 4th time today and she said that whilst accelerating there was thick black smoke coming from the exhausts........Is this a turbo issue? 2009 3.6 TDV8 HST

No necessarily, it could be a split pipe or your actuator may be sticking, a common fault.

Thanks Ady, Sorry to be picking your brains at this time of night but if it is the Actuator does that mean a new turbo unit is required? 2009 3.6 TDV8 HST

Ok.....Just got off the phone with the "SPECIALIST" who "THINK" that it is a Turbo problem. Surely they should be able to say for definate???? Correct me if I am wrong...... Confused Confused Confused Confused

I desperately dont want to be giving this car back to the dealer who has already said he is willing to give me my money back for the car. Having said that the "SPECIALIST" also said that might be my best option because the Turbo is a huge job and the car will never be the same again!!!!! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

When driving it the other day my Mrs said that there was quite a bit of black smoke from the exhausts under hard acceleration.........Does this smoke mean the Turbo is knackered/On the way out????

I Phoned the dealer and asked him to send it to LR main dealer for a second opinion and he politely refused because of the rates they demand plus it has been to 2 different "SPECIALISTS" already!!!!

All I can say is I am Censored Gutted and totally Censored off!!!!!!! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry 2009 3.6 TDV8 HST

Wouldn't a Turbo fault bring up the engine system fault sooner then after 10 miles of motorway driving?? 2009 3.6 TDV8 HST

Lol....Yeah there is no finance or HP or anything like that so he has offered to just reverse the deal. I am so reluctant tho.......I have always wanted the RRS on a 55 plate (Cheaper Tax is my way of sticking it to the Chancellor) and now I am gutted to be giving it up. Big Cry Big Cry

I could buy another I guess but my confidence in them was not great to start and now it is non existant!!!!!

Plus I have just bought Side steps, New steering wheel, Replaced all door seals, Had a full Service and Cambelt, and arranged to have the media pack fitted to the rear!!!!

I know it sucks but if you get a decent example they are sublime (I am on my second and looking forward to my third when the new one comes out next year).

If the turbo has popped it makes me wonder if it's had a hard life?

If you buy another then all the stuff will fit on it and you can have the pack fitted too.

As for the tax, if you get a younger one then you might save more on repairs than the extra you pay for tax?

keep the faith! Thumbs Up ============

I looked for ages for one with low miles (52k) with FSH (Dealer).....This has never towed as it has no tow bar or electrics so I really cant see how it can have had a hard life although I did think that for a second too when they said "Turbo issue".

I am still not convinced it is a "Turbo issue" surely it would be much more obvious than this. 2009 3.6 TDV8 HST
