Improved reliability with new RRS?

Hi Guys,

I've still been lurking on the forum since selling my 2007 TDV6 RRS to Matthew at LPR a couple of years ago and scratching the particular itch that I'd always had to run an Audi RS4 Avant....

I've absolutely loved the RS4 and it's been pretty much faultless, which was a breath of fresh air after all the problems I had with my RRS (much as I loved it!).

However, I'm in need of something bigger again to carry small person, outlaws etc and SWMBO misses the RRS massively so it looks like I'm going to come back into the fold...James/Matthew I'll be in touch v shortly Wink

My question is this - for those of you who changed into newer model RRS', have you found them to be generally more reliable than your older model vehicles?

In my 18 months with the my RRS I had a catalogue of issues, but I'm hoping that you're going to tell me that the new vehicles are at least a bit more reliable...? Smile

I'm also v tempted to get a 4.4TDV8 FFRS for something slightly different, thoughts ? Whistle

JT

If your budget stretches to the FFRR then I guess it is a no brainer. Plus there are good deals to be had before the launch of the new model later this year Wink

Hi C1OKO,

Do you really think it's a no brainer? I still prefer the interior of the RRS in some ways to the FFRR...but I have the say the 4.4TDV8 is a very nice lump and a FFRR has been on the 'to own' list since I was knee high!

Am conscious that the new FFRR is also not far away but I think if I can get a good enough deal on a 6mth - 12 mth old FFRR then I could be seriously tempted as you say. Some decent deals on low mileage, nearly new RRS' at the moment too from what I can see....

Comments on the reliability of the newer RRS will certainly be a factor in the decision making process! Thumbs Up

Personally as much as I love the RRS lack of V8 diesel puts it on short end when it comes to decision re buying another diesel. If you were to choose the 5.0 SC then the whole story chnages Cool

6-12 month deal on a FFRR Westminister diesel with an option to swap for the new model and you can't go wrong Thumbs Up

As to reliability all depends on the individual car - my is 4 years now and no issues. Same would apply to newer cars.

I have had my RRS about ten months now and covered about 9000 miles and have had no problems at all (famous last words). I still enjoy driving it as much as the day I picked it up but after treating myself to a new FF I find that I am driving that more, I just can't get enough of the V8. They are both fantastic cars and it is down to your own personal choice give them both a good test drive and see which you like the best. My own observations are: and this is just my personal opinion, the FF is faster 0-60 but the RRS is easier to drive fast if that makes any sense, the suspension on the FF is a lot more forgiving on uneven roads and it obviously has a lot more room inside. I do miss the RRS's electric tailgate and keyless entry on the FF and the voice control on the RRS is a much better system, not sure if that was at all helpful Very Happy 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux
