England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I'll probably be the only one to say this but I would have my Q7 back over my RRS in an instant.

I had a 2007 3.0tdi S-Line with the Tech Pack & Comms pack. Everything about the car excels against the 2005-09 RRS.

- Build Quality.
Miles better in & out. Didn't hear a single rattle in the 12 months I had mine. Materials were much better quality and well put together. Everything worked.....all the time. Eventually went in to a stationary Transit Van at 60mph and 3 of us got out un-hurt. The MMI interface with the turn-wheels is awesome. On-screen display and Nav put the RRS screen to shame in all fairness. Soft touch lighting in the footwells and behind the paddles is lovely. Real high quality feel to it.

- Comfort.
Very very comfortable. Much more spacious than the RRS and you realise why it is so big outside, because you get lots of space inside too! Rear leg room as massive (2nd row). Space to spread your legs and sit in comfort in the front. I find the RRS very narrow and boxed in. Have also dropped the rear seats and slept in mine a few times so handy if that is your thing (probably not!). Did around 1500 miles through Europe and it chewed up the miles. Did similar in the RRS this year but had to stop every 2/3 hours to get out and stretch. The power tailgate is a great feature too.

- Ride.
Much smoother than the RRS. 4 Air Suspension settings and it rides perfectly on all of them, even on the 21". Chews up motorway miles much better than the RRS. Probably due to it being lower and longer and more saloon-like. Either way its a pleasure to drive.

- Audi.
Very different to Loki's experience. I walked in to a showroom in ripped shorts Laughing a baggy t-shirt and trainers (with tattoos on show!!) and asked to see a Q7. Bearing in mind I was 24 at the time, I was greeted by lovely sales staff (Which sales guys aren't lovely right!?) who went out their way to take me out in a Q7 with the same spec I was after. It went in twice to Audi whilst I owned it, first £550 service was free under the Finance scheme and second time was for a recall. They collected the car from my workplace, left me with a replacement and 4 hours later bought my Q7 back. Never, ever had any trouble with Sales or Service and that is at 2 different dealerships (Leicester & York)

- Negatives.
Only thing I have noticed between the 2 is the driving position. Even though it is a bit narrow for my liking, I prefer the high seating position of the RRS. The Q7 is very saloon like and you are sat with your legs stretched out in front of you as opposed to being sat in a van, like the RRS Laughing

Overall, I much prefer the Q7. Maybe I have picked up a real bad RRS with the problems I have had with it and I am sticking it out as I want to enjoy it, but please do not think the Q7 is a downgrade...in my opinion it is quiet the opposite.

Good luck with your descision....I have been dreaming about this for the last few days!

I had a Q7 for a very short while.... It was the V8 diesel. I bought it on a whim and sold it within a few months but only to fund a sports car....

Really though asking opinions on an Audi on a RRS Forum is like asking Dogs if they like Cats ??

Ask for opinions on an RRS on an Audi forum ??? MMmmmmm

Probably the only thing the RRS has over its competitors in the sector are:

1. Badge cachet. Those 2 words: Range Rover

2. It actually has genuine off road ability

For most people, point 2. isn't an issue as they never intend to go anywhere that isn't covered in tarmac. So that just leaves the badge...

Discussions about looks are pointless as they are totally subjective. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Disagree RRSTDV8.

I think the post-2010 RRS is a much better place to be in almost all driving conditions, and I also think the interior is better.

Absolutely no contest for me, RRS wins hands down Disco 4 2012 3.0 SDV6 HSE,Santorini Black and Ebony, Privacy, Grand Black lacquer, 20" 5 spoke alloys, tow bar

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

My sister in law has a Q7, and it's great as a 7 seater which is raised of the ground but I am not overly impressed with it apart from that.

My dad has an A8 and I think it is better on so many levels - 4 wheel drive, faster, as much space if you only need a 5 seater and better mpg, and to be honest - equally as good off road as a Q7!

My 2010 sport is better finished, more comfortable to sit in and be in, and so much more capable off road. Alright, her 7 has more room and a bigger boot, but I wouldn't swap for the world.

It is quick (her husband has remapped it) and definitely looks lovely, but, and I'm not being a snob when I say this, as I do like Audi.... It's not a Range Rover. For any faults I've had with mine, when you do an off road day, or even the off road experience thing over the trailers etc you know what you've bought and why you've bought it. Towing is something else the sport does so effortlessly.

Good luck with what you decide, but I know when I am due to change i'll be changing for another sport - probably an autobiography with black headlining MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports
