2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I had mine in about 2ft of water at LRE Eastnor a couple of weeks ago. Similar to MikeS's picture but mine doesn't have a snorkel. The key is that the "road" surface was suitable and there were no hidden obstacles/holes on the route. Also, the water was static (no real flow in any direction). Also, looking at MikS's picture, the water looks to be c.700mm deep as it's near the top of the tyres.

The electrics were all fine and the door seals worked as advertised (although the nearside rear outer seal let a couple of spoonfuls through, the inner seal did it's job).

The problem in floods is that you don't necessarily know if there is a current and which way it's flowing (from the side is a potential killer). You also don't know if there are any nasties hiding in the water to damage the car e.g. other vehicles, debris, potholes.

Unless you're in a life threatening situation, I can't see the point in taking your RRS in to water in a flash flood situation. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
