YES or NO? Land Rover Extended Warranty

Hello all,

Would you extend your RRS Warranty?

This is what LR says:

" Approved Extended Warranty - What your Land Rover Approved Extended Warranty covers:

What your Approved Warranty does not cover:

- All service/maintenance operations and adjustments.

- Glass.

- Paintwork and bodywork.

- Wheels and wheel balancing/alignment and adjustment unless part of a valid claim.

- Recharging of air conditioning unit unless part of a valid claim.

- Telephone/TV/DVD/VIDEO.

- Tyres.

- Batteries.

- Exhaust system.

- Water ingress.

- Strikers and hinges.

General Exclusions for Approved Warranty:

- Faults resulting from the use of contaminated fuel or inappropriate fuel for the vehicle.

I opted for it. So far i've had the front suspension knocking sorted and last weekend i used LRA to change a flat tyre.
I look at it as peace of mind.

I think the answer from most people would be that you would be fairly unwise to run an RRS without a warranty, but you don't have to stick with LR. There are a few providers out there and numerous threads on here (search +warranty on here) so it could be worth looking through and seeing who offers the best service for the most agreeable price. My warranty runs out earlu in August. I'm torn between renewing the LR one or going to WarrantyWise. WW do state that they replace parts in pairs which I quite like the idea of. Recently had the front ARB bushes done - LR just changed one side as that was the side that had failed. Seems to me that something like that should have both sides done at the same time... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ran my old RRS out of Warranty for a year before selling, had no issues at all (they were all in the 3 year period)

Mine is now going to be Select, which doesn't cover wear and tear, so will be going elsewhere

Having looked at prices elsewhere, I think I'll go with the LR Approved warranty again if for no other reason than the costs all seem to be pretty similar - although the cheaper offerings seem to have a 12k miles pa limit.

Hopefully, next year the car will just qualify for a further year in the LR Approved scheme because it'll be due in August but 5 years old in November. LR Approved only applies up to 5 years old at the inception of the warranty. After that, I'll probably go elsewhere...

One thing of interest, to me at least, is that the LR scheme allows monthly payments interest free. As I'll have insurance, road tax, warranty and a service all due within the same month, that looks like an attractive option this time around...it'll be 6 months tax plus monthly warranty payments I think as that'll reduce the outlay in August by about £1000 and has the benefit of meaning that next year the tax and insurance renewals will be 6 months apart. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
