United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
System Fault, Special Programs not available

Hi all,

So I've had my 56 plate HSE 2.7 V6 for a day. I've first of all noticed that there is a squeeling coming from the brakes (think its coming from the rear). Also when I was driving for probably just under half hour on a motorway my speedo went to 0, I had an assortment of warning lights and messages such as 'System Fault Special Programs Not Available', 'Special Programs Off' 'Park Brake Fault' and 'HDC Fault' etc...

I will be taking it back to the dealer under their warranty but has anyone got the heads up as to why this could be... giving me some ammunition if the dealer wants to take me for a ride and say its not covered etc...

Ok, so now the car goes into the HDC fault - suspension lowered etc... either straight away when turning the car on or within about 1 minute of driving...

I'd put money on it being battery or alternator :thumbsup:Try putting it on charge for a few hours see if it goes away.

Ok, from everything ive been looking at on the net they also say battery. Ive heard that these cars are pretty choosy over their batteries. What is so special about them? Are they sealed or is it possible that I need to add more water?

They're sealed Lead Calcium batteries.
If you've been playing with the buttons with the ignition or radio on for any length of time, it will be flat.

Also check for any blown bulbs in the rear lights and repklace them with LR bulbs, cheap bulbs can cause issues. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi, I would put my money on it being either an ABS sensor or one of the wires to it/them. Mine has done it several times and it's been a wiring issue to the sensor. I only have one wheel left to fail!

Top marks that man!

The battery was fine, alternator charging fine. It was an intermittent nearside rear abs sensor.
