Took my RRS for a service today and they gave me a Full Fat TDV8 Vogue as a loan car - been working out how I can raise enough money to buy one all day - sell caravan, px sport, sell mini, sell kidney......

Went to pick mine up and they asked if I would like to keep the vogue for a while.....

Then I discovered my pride and joy slid off a ramp and it needs to go in the bodyshop.....


What do I do now - they say they will have it looking good as new but I am not happy - creased rear quarter panel from where it came to rest against lift supports and how do I know discs and underside not damaged as the wheels were off

I have been in and out of Love with the RRS since I got it but I have had enough now

They are getting a "specialist" to look at the "dent" on Monday and then contacting me with his recommendation

The dealer has also examined the knocking suspension issue again and advised it is fine

The dealer has two types of ramp - one has arms with rubber pads that swing under jacking points

The one used on mine has 2 steel beams that run front to back and were positioned under the metal suspension arms and the car slid off them

not good mate , reality is its their fault and I'm sure they will put it right and to what ever standard you expect.

Personally i would be too fussed about a few dings from the fall aslong as any damage is put right. Not sure how you stand on refusing a repair and where you would go with it. Maybe you should try dropping their FFRR off a small cliff

31.4 mpg average using paddle shift and taking it steady

I want the tdv8 with the sport suspension and the 8 speed box

^^^^ Maybe they have, but i would never take any of my motors to quick fit Ive seen how some of their monkeys err i mean staff work, i and i wouldn't call it professional but i know they can't all be the same, just like i wouldn't take any of my motors there for a service.

I am not one to knock Lr - I have bought enough

However my issues with the sport -

1. Missed wiring loom to rear door in factory, missed on pdi and took months to resolve.
2. Tyre edges worn bald at 8000 miles
3. Phantom electrical glitches and warning lights
4. Power loss at roundabouts and junctions almost causing collisions
5. Summer tyres fitted as standard so second set of winter tyres required for poor weather
6. Low profile tyres great for Tarmac but if you want a 4x4 useless
7. Clunking/Knocking suspension ruled normal by dealer
8. Steering vibration
9. Paint defect on door had to be resprayed
10. Rear lock not reconnected when missing wiring loom fitted so car parked unlocked for 3 months without realising it
11. Firm ride great for cornering but for long journeys
12. Depreciation of a brick dropped from height

All this after 7 trouble free Lr's

Can't blame you for being a tad disillusioned.

I don;t know if i'm suited to be an LR driver at all; I've had a long run of ultra-reliable cars. Spoiled. Still...

Quite a list there, understand your frustration.

2. Were they Continentals? this is a feature(like Windows ) does not happen with other tires, true LR should have given up on them long time ago.

5. Personally I would always go for summer/winter tires according to season.

6. Well, is a Sport, they expect most people to never go real off-road(probably correctly) give the best on road look/performance. Easily corrected.
