Hill Descent type suspension problem

RRS 2006, 2.7 HSE, 66000 miles.

When I go around a moderately sharp bend, for example the sort of bend you get when you leave a motorway slip road and there's often a large loop to get to the next road. If I do that loop at more that 40 mph, it feels as if the Hill Descent is switching itself on. The suspension suddenly feels very strange and stiff, and it feels as if the ABS is limiting my speed with that grinding noise the Hill Descent makes.

As soon as the road straightens out, the car instantly returns to normal and everything's fine again, except that my heart rate's gone to more than 100 and I'm gripping the wheel with white knuckles.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks.

Ha ha, very funny.

There is definately something wrong with a car that won't go around a bend at 40 mph.

So maybe the traction control is cutting in prematurely. Could someone sensible suggest possible reasons why that should be? Thanks.

Seriously this could be your traction control/ABS which is cutting in because there is something wrong which is putting your car into imbalance and applying the brake to one of your discs and/or cutting power.
It could be something as simple as low tyre pressure which is causing a wheel to spin faster on a tight bend. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Also worth checking that the centre diff isn't locking for some reason - it'll show on the 4x4 info screen if it is. This will make the car feel out of sorts if it happens mid bend. Might be linked to a traction control issue.

Just a thought. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

In case anyone is wondering what the problem turned out to be, the suspension air compressor was packing up.
