My10 47k on clock. New gearbox under warranty.....

So after 2 days of ownership of a 2 year old RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE it didn't feel right. Hade more poke and much quieter and more refined than my 55 plate 2.7.

The gearbox and change didn't feel right. Back to my dealer and they put me in a 11 plate Autobiography in white that made me feel like a footballers wife. (mine is Bali Blue). Two weeks later and samples sent to LR and ZF. Gearbox flushed 3 times with new oil and many other tests. LR have agreed to put a new box in it. Told the dealer that unless they did I wouldn't accept it as it was faul when I bought it. The dealer has been excellent and am unsure if LR were cautious because they have had no issues with this box or because they didn't want to splash the cash.

anyone else had issues apart from dash warnings ?

Just looked at my history on here and I must be unlucky. Remembered my 55 plate compressor went a few days after I bought it. That was however the only issue I had with that car for the 2 years I had it !

The 6 speed ZF box isn't as reliable as you would think...

Wow that's a lot of metal on the magnets !

It was surging at steady revs going up any incline. No problems under heavy load but odd.
Having a bit of knowledge I would guess torque converter. Lucky for me there are none at LR so a new box is the fix.

Took two weeks and they were going to send a ZF tech and LR tech down. Should know if it's sorted tomorrow.
Glad in a way as I drive fairly hard and chip most things so I have a couple of ZF basket cases to my name.

1 on a L322 4.4 V8 and an RS6 4.2 V8 550 HP !

what was it doing exactly ?

Mine has been a bit funny recently, seems to judder when maintaining speed, kinda like its firing on 3 cylinders. Also get an occasional loss of power after breaking hard for roundabouts ect, both issues go away if i stop and start again.

What model is yours ?

It did do an odd shudder but it was mainly if I went up a hill and kept a steady throttle the revs surged from 2 k to 2.2k and it didn't change. They thought it could be an injector problem or air mass meter. I thought it felt like the box but still don't know if it's cured. I will within a few minutes of driving it !

its a 2010 3.0 HSE mate

Mine is kinda similar but the fact that it clears when restarted kinda lead me to think it was electronic component rather than the gearbox , your discription does sound similar Confused

Lucky for us LR are very clever and make more than one colour. For Essex type people and Footballers etc they make white.
My last RRS was Bonnati Grey.

M5 and M4 into London most RRS are Black or White. I like them and think they look great. but.... The reason I have bought both these colours are because they are not Black or White, then again I did have a bright yellow A4 13 years ago....

Anyway back to the thread. New gearbox fitted under warranty and the car is perfect. shame it took a few weeks but it's all good so I am happy.
