Anything is easy to nick given time and equipment. Why did they think it was particularly easy to steal? Shocked

Wheel clamps although portable can attract attention and can make someone think it is worth nicking. Clamps can be a bit tricky to fit/realease, easy to scratch alloys and you are distracted whilst bending down to fit/release it and won't notice the whack to the back of the head! Big Cry

Consider a post on the drive if that's where you park. Quick to release and easy to swing if you get jumped. Better still put it out of sight in a garage if practical.

Just my thoughts anyway. Good luck.

Richard

Any cars easy to steel if the keys are in their hand Rolling Eyes police scaremongering Confused

Personally I think a wheel clamp will just make them try a little harder, bit more of a thrill having to defeat that also, but on the flip side it could make it not as easy as next door

The CCTV will give you something to look at, a bloke in a hoody driving off in your car Wink , best thing I got was a drive way alarm, sounds off a bing bong in my house if anyone enters my gardens

The only thing that will make the thieves think twice will be something that stops them driving it away, even if they have keys. Locked gates or a driveway post would be better (and more convenient) than a wheel clamp.

If you're serious about something that will work...

http://bollardpeople.com/Products/Manual-B...-Post.aspx

You could probably even colour code it to match your motor! I'll have a spare 'autobiography' badge soon if you wanted to pimp the post.. Very Happy

For £165 you can't go wrong!

Haha, I can just imagine the post tomorrow morning... Range Rover was safe as houses but the beemers no where to be seen! You could buy a shed and park it behind the RR every night!!

If they see two cars on your drive like you have got then if they are serious thugs then they will break into your house first and more often tooled up take what they want load it into your motor once they have found your keys and thank you very much Shocked There isn't much to stop them really, all you can do is make it harder for them, i would put a steering wheel lock on both motors, fit an alarm like N pinks has got Thumbs Up Even better where possible garage your motors, A dog is also a good deterrent, At the end of the day if they want it they will take it, no matter what i'm afraid. Fingers crossed it was just the local bobby making you aware that there are scumbags stll out there Whistle When i had two subaru's in my garage i got a gun, not ideal and not clever, thankfully i didn't have to ever use it.

Thanks Ady

Got the dogs (that's why the boxster's gone!)...too much crap in the garages to fit in either car (trailer, unused gym kit etc)

I think a gun is a little too extreme even for me but am seriously thinking about getting a losd of baseball memorabilia off Ebay, so that I have decnet defence if I catch the ba Censored tds with a baseball bat in my hand Wink BMW 530D 2011 still here

Bad news about the bat is that It's unfortunately you that gets done and the thief gets off because he has a drug problem and then gets a nice claim from where you broke his legs Sad

If you are doing it just make sure you drag them up the stairs, It's deemed a more personal space than downstairs.

Like most other people have said if they want it then they will have it, just remember anything you do to try and deter them can have a negative effect aswell, eg if you fit a wheel clamp they could do a whole lot of damage to alloys/bodywork trying to get it off.

The way I now look at it is, I would rather have then take the whole car and wreck it (insurance will buy me a new one) rather than them scratching it whereby I would probably just pay to have it fixed rather than loose no claims bonus etc.

I use a disklok on mine , makes a bit of a deterrent and it's easily fitted and removed with the key, u shud always hide yor keys away when the car isn't used aswel. A good security light around yor car is a good idea too Java black 2006
