United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
Looking at buying a 2005-2006 RR Sport TDV6 - Good/bad idea?

Hi guys,

I've got the itch for a new car, and having never had a 4x4 before, I am looking at selling my 2006 CLS as I've got my heart set on a Range Rover TDV6 Sport. I'm looking at 05-06 HSE models on around 90-110k miles mark.

Normally that sort of mileage would not put me off as I'd rather buy a car on its condition and how well it been kept and serviced in the past as apposed to mileage (my CLS is on 97k) Is 90-110k miles on a RR Sport a lot? Is there a typical sort of mileage that these cars really start to go wrong and fall apart?

What sort of things should I keep a keen eye out for when buying one on that sort of mileage? How often are the major services?

I realise that you's probably get posts and topics like this all the time, but would appriciate your replies, especially if they're not just "use the search button!" Whistle Which I have done and the amount of information here is fantastic.

Thanks in advance!

Do the RR Sport's have an aux-in or an iPod interface of any sort as standard? Or is this an optional extra?

I used to have a 55 plate HSE and it did not have a coolbox as standard. IIRC it was MY07/08 where they started to have the coolbox as standard.

high miles sports are fine proving there is a FSH, have a search on the forum for common issues, knocking noises from worn bushes being the most common, but a relatively cheap fix

That's good to hear Smile I fear that the Sport will probably be slightly lesser spec than my CLS, but it's the price I'll have to pay I guess for going for the earlier year versions. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

To qualify for cheaper tax, the vehicle had to be registered before 1st march 2006. My motor was a june 2006 and didn't have a fridge.

Sounds promising then Smile

I only do around 6000 miles a year, as nice as it would be to have a fridge it's not exactly the deal breaker, I've managed this long so far without a fridge after all. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Hi MisterAdam
Its not a fridge, fan cooled box.
So I wouldn't think it would get that cold.
I bought one from ebay cheap but haven't had a chance to fit yet.
