Tow Bar Fitting

OK.....I have just received my tow bar in the post and have a couple of questions:

1/ How does the red blanking plate on the car come out of the female fitting?

2/ I can't turn the green locking lever on the tow bar even when it is in the unlocked position?

Advice anyone????

Jim

red socket just tug it HARD

you have to pull the rotating green knob out from the towbar before it will rotate anti-clockwise to release.

You may find the "trigger pin" on the towbar has been sprung in transit... in that cvase you need to re-prime the towbar before it will locate into the socket.. RRS gone

1. Just tease the red cover plate out, mine was in fairly tight first of all, a good yank (maybe with some long nose pliers) should sort that.

2. I can't remember the exact procedure, but if you look in the manual Whistle or on the Topix website there is a section called towing that shows you how to fit/remove the tow bar Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Also, they can be a bit of a swine to get fitted properly the first few times.
If your key won't come out after you've fitted the towbar don't try and force
it. It's just that the locating mechanisim is not quite seated properly and therefore
the towbar isn't 100% secure. I had to give mine a "friendly" Whistle tap with a
rubber mallet to get it to click in correctly the first couple of times. Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Mine was a swine to fit the first time too. Ended up spending a few minutes fitting and removing it before it slotted nicely each time.

Had toyed with idea of using a little copper slip on it but decided I'd rather it was tight and secure than easy to fit and possibly loose. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
