AFAIK, it's been acknowledged as a bug; mdworker process (Spotlight) is taking too long.
"After further investigation it has been determined that this is a known issue, which is currently being investigated by engineering.  This issue has been filed in our bug database under the original Bug ID# 10990537."

Try EasyFind as a workaround.

Shocked Laughing

MSE bit of a generalisation Wink , as someone who has been working in IT for years i would suggest IMHO that Apple
is for those who want a relatively hassle free environment

whereas with Mickey Soft one would expect that i) the users have some level of compos mentos in terms of IT/Computer related knowledge ii) or a mate who does, or iii) a large IT support team and finally a level of patience for when you have
to rebuild/image every so often Laughing ah do you remember Vista.. Rolling with laughter Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

MAC has never been trouble free, its just not let you do anythign therefore you cant get into any problems Thumbs Up

People moaned about vista - it wasnt perfect, but wasnt that bad either - there is no denying 7 was/is better but vista was a little like the millennium dome, doomed before it started.

Windows 8 on the other had - the beta I ran is not good, im not a fan at all. Mike

Gave up on Windows

I gave up on Windows a few years ago, I was completely fed up with the amount of time I was spending sorting the damned things out and yet they were still slowing down after a year. I hear Windows 7 was significantly better and 8 very good.

Am happy with my Apple kit, like most there are things I don't understand why they are how they are but my overal experience is very very good.

The ability to cheaply stream video (HD quality) and music around the house to multiple sound systems and tvs from iPhones and iPads as well as from the iMac and MacBooks is great. Nice integration into B&O kit too. Graham
