Would be interesting too hear the garage manager's view on why the tyre is supposedly dangerous. It does look more worn in the middle, unusual? Graham

to me it just looks exactly like what it is.. a tyre with probably 20k on it on a car that has been driven fast into corners.. a few more k left and it'll be time to replace

The shoulders of the tyres have stood up to 20k remarkably well Thumbs Up (my previous car wore the shoulders off very quickly)

Am new to RRS - am going to be a happy camper if RRS get 20k+ out of tyres Cool Graham

I'd check how much ink is in that free pen, it may not get you to the end of a sentence! Whistle Laughing

On the tyres, I agree with all the other guys... total con merchants.... those tyres are clearly legal.
I'd write to the local trading standards office about the garages sharp practices and copy the letter to
the garage manager. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Will keep an eye on them when I put mine in. I'll check them with a tread depth guage, thank them for their concern and (if they are correct) fit the replacement set sitting in the garage. Smile

No chance of them fitting a spare as the car doesn't have a piggin spare!! Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head

I had a 645 when they first came out, sent it in for attention to the rear screen, they rang and said they would have to put four new tyres on because the 'technician' considered the ones on dangerous!

It had done 4000 miles!

I told them if they didn't do the fix to the screen and touched my tyres I would come and tear the 'technician' a new breathing hole in his arse.

It was a well known BMW garage in Liverpool beginning with W! SDV6 HSE Sport2 - Santorini Black, Ebony Interior, Pano Roof, Things I haven't found yet!

Sharing the name will help anyone else who may use this garage as it would be surprising if this was a one-off...

so it turned out the front tyres had 3 months and 2,748 miles life left in them (and still plenty of tread left in the middle.. poxy Conti and their feeble side walls) Thumbs Up ============
