Rodent damage causes limp home mode | |
Parked my 2011 RRS outside my home on Wednesday night. Thursday morning I started it and it was in limp home mode without me even leaving. Drove it to the end of the street and back with obviously reduced power. Rang LR recovery and went through a reset procedure with the operator with no change to the error messages.
Waited 2 hours for a flat-top to pick it up and take it to Melbourne Land Rover (MLR). Of course I expected it to be a warranty job.
Late today, Friday, in conversation with the service department I was told that there was what appeared to be rodent damage to some wiring under the bonnet, causing fault readings regarding the diesel pump and the EGR valve(s).
I went to the dealer and was shown the damage. On the driver's side, two 2 core cables, one attached to the end of one of the fuel rail and one to another connector below it were roughly severed. There were no obvious teeth marks and the copper on one of the cores was bent back at the end.
I am not convinced of the rodent theory. Has anyone had a similar experience??
