I refrained from posting about this 2 weeks ago as I put it down to a 'new car glitch' however, having had a second 2.5 hour wait for the AA recovery to turn up last night I decided it needed some publicity!

The problem is that the rotary dial on the gearbox locks. It gets stuck in any of the functions (P, R,N,D,S) although it seems to be mostly in park and reverse. The dial physically can't be moved either way. It seems to try and reset itself by dropping down partially then coming back up again, it does this twice. When you press the brake it occasionally clicks as if it's trying to reset too.

A worrying problem Jonathan, especially on a 50K+ car!

How many miles have you done? Was there any warning?

Hmm gremlins already set into the 2012 model i hope its not contagious, let us know how you get on jonathan, i hope its sorted quickly without anymore repercussions Might be worth looking on the jag forum to see if they are experiencing problems.

Not experienced this Jonathan, but hope you get it sorted ASAP.
As Ady says, take look on Jaguar as I understand it's the same technology

Jim4224, have only done 1600 miles, first problem at about 700 miles.....

Spoke to dealer tonight and they have preordered in a new module. They have diagnostics this time which they didn't last time (....?) so maybe we will have proper progress before the Easter weekend? Jaguar XKR Convertible

Hmmmm.......I spoke with Mrs Jim last night and my car has 875 miles on the clock. No problems of any sort ..............yet!

Car is back gents, no problems to report as yet. Gear change module replaced. Let's hope it's all sorted! Apparently had the big wigs from land rover calling up for a full report as it was a new fault... Jaguar XKR Convertible

happened to me when I had the jag. They took it away and replaced the module, although it took them over 2 weeks to do this. When I got it back I had no problems so I hope it's the same for you. 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic, Corris Grey with contrast Santorini Black Panoramic Roof, lunar interior, privacy glass, upgraded Meridian system, cooled 18 way front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive xenons, large screen wash bottle.

Gone: 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black, Ivory/Lunar interior, grand black lacquer finish, HK Logic 7.1 Surround, Privacy Glass, Adaptive Xenons, heated steering wheel.

Gone: Jaguar XF Luxury, Pearl Grey, Dove Interior

Thanks alanad. Both of the AA guys who picked me up said the jags had the SAme problem.... Unfortunately land rover dealer didn't either believe me or feel the need to look into it first time round... Jaguar XKR Convertible
