Probably shipping damage if they've had a poor crossing and come loose in the container Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support! |

They don't go in containers for the most part Martin, they get driven onto a floating multistorey carpark in their 1000's. The damage that Sportman pictures is consistant with shipping damage as far as the bumpers is concerned but I don't think that would casue the airbags to go off. Cars are parked so close to each other on the cardecks that you cannot walk between them and if there is bad weather and one car breaks loose from it's lashings it causes amazing damage. The ships that carry LR's out of Southampton are huge green and white ships owned by a Swedish company and they have a very good reputation for taking care of the vehicles while they are on their ships. Of course the cars have to be driven from compounds in the docks into the ship and then from the ship back to receiving compounds at the destination port, they are generally driven by specialist drivers (also called dockers!) in the UK but at the other end the recieving dealer provides the drivers.
