You're absolutely right M8. It's disgraceful the way big businesses delay payment to smaller firms, yet ofcourse set their own terms for payment at the polar opposite! In the current ecenomic climate theses practices are totally unacceptable and it's about time something was done to force these companies to pay in a timely fashion. If you have terms of payment (lets say 30 days) clearly marked on your invoices you do also have the right to also include a clause detailing additional charges for late payment. But, in practice I don't think this is adequate. As an SME company we only do a supplier invoice payment run once a month, usually aroung the 15th but, when a service has been provided to us by a small local business or sole trader we have a policy of paying immediately on receipt of invoice. Hopefully this not only helps the cashflow of those businesses but also encourages good will towards us from them too. The smaller the company (or even better private clients) pay within 14 days... it's the big boys who use us small fry as personal cash flow companies...nightmare RRS gone

I had this exact same issue earlier this week,first it was wrong bank details and when the funds still didn't arrive they wanted the invoice amending despite the fact that they had had it in house for 50 days and 20 days overdue,now missed my year end so less actual cash than there should be. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Have this problem all day, every day.

Worst client ever was one of the big supermarket retailers - bloody nightmare to deal with. Was told their terms are 90 days like it or not, despite signing our 21 day contract - in the end they didnt pay up for 7 months. Havent worked for them since.

Funniest thing was that we were booted off half way through the job as their new property director brought in his own team - so we were due our abortive fees - and they went on to lose the case

Had a big invoice paid this week just 5 days after submitting it - there are some good guys out there too. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
