Changing handles - very specific question - help needed

I have without any problems removed and replaced (without breaking the clips) 2 offside sets of handles + also rear near side.

I'm now trying to remove and replace the front near side i.e. the one with the lock in it.

I've got the external plastic cover off the lock - easy. Removed the rubber gromet. Now (and maybe this is the story of my life) I'm fishing around in the dark trying to find the Torx without really sure what I'm feeling for and scared of damaging something.

I've seen the online instructions - can someone whose done this just talk me through the next step. Bow down

Many thanks to all - this is a geart forum. 2007 TDV8 HSE, Stornoway, 20" HST alloys + GG ATs, HST body kit and Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm)

When you do find the torx screw my top tip to you would be to undo a small amount at a time since you do not have to remove the screw totally, f you do you will lose it in the bottom of the door.
The screw basically fits into a recess in the lock barrel, so turn 1/4 at a time until the barrel is free.
It will be obvious when you do it.......and if you over do it and lose the screw it will be equally obvious where you went wrong...lol

Hope this helps

Advice appreciated.

What do you do just prod around until the Torx engages on something? 2007 TDV8 HSE, Stornoway, 20" HST alloys + GG ATs, HST body kit and Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm)

In case anybody else gets stuck at the same point - I figured out the problem today ...

The locking screw that you need to turn is not directly in line with the access screw hole, but it is at an angle of about 30 degrees pointing towards the door skin.

Although it is a torx, I eventually gripped it with a 4mm wide straight screwdriver, 125mm long blade.

For doing it on a sunny day, in day light you can actually see the screw. In the end it was simple, had two or three attempts in the garage without decent light - no joy at all.

Thanks all. 2007 TDV8 HSE, Stornoway, 20" HST alloys + GG ATs, HST body kit and Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm)
