United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Bonatti Grey
Short journeys..advice please

Hi,

My journey to work is around 15mins only and i usually work from home at least once a week. My old 330i sport BMW had 'mayonnaise' oil as a result of short journeys and the oil not heating / cooling correctly. I want to try and keep the RRS engine is perfect condition and wondered if any of you know if this is likely to be an issue , and if so what is the best way to avoid it happening if i mostly only do short journeys...sometimes (only if its raining) literally only 5mins down the road to the supermarket.

Thanks If it doesnt scare you it isnt heavy enough

You don't say what age your RRS is?

If its a newer one then it is fitted with a particulate filter that needs to get really hot every now and again. THis is so it can complete a burn/clean cycle.

If you don't take if for a long run every now and again you will get error messages about the filter etc.

^^^ According to his little pic it is a 2009 supercharged. Partical filters are only fitted to diesel engines I believe.

We had this issue with the wife's Citroen. The battery never really got a decent charge and the auto box started getting problems with always being cold. In the winter it would take an age to start.

In the end I had to use it once a week in my commute Crying or Very sad 52 miles each way and I hated it. Sold it after three months as it really wasn't getting much better. Thumbs Up

Give it a good run at the weekends and that should help - or take the seanic route Thumbs Up

Richard
