Ordered SWMHO a new Cooper SD last month, niceley specced and awaiting delivery early April.

Had a phone call today from the dealer enquiring if I would be interested in one 'ready made' in their Group. Better spec; with £2300 of extras on top of our spec - full leather, Harmon Kardon sound, tints, sunroof - but "as we havent got to our quarterley target yet" they will charge me an extra £1600.

Any thoughts on this, has the car been lying around in a field for a while, am I having my chain pulled etc etc ???

I recon you could get the price down further if they are that desperate,

See if you can get the build date to find how long it's been sitting but bear in mind lots of cars sit around doing nothing in paddocks before been sold, it's only the same as sitting on your drive IMO

My answer might be: "Sure, I'll take it for the same price I'm paying for the one I ordered". If they're desparate to sell it then you get a bargain, if they're just wanting to move something on to make room then they'll refuse and you're no worse off than before.

As npinks says, I would check the exact age etc. and even ask why it's sat around unsold. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The boss isnt 100% with the tints but it might be worth a haggle tomorrow. Depends how desperate they are to hit the target I guess.

I agree with the guys above bradders, they know you are a serious buyer so offer them the price you are paying for yours and not a penny more, get them to email you the full spec then you know what they are offering you, over the phone is no good, it might not be the spec they told you when you go to view, ive known salesmen not know their left arm from their right. 1. Full leather (£845)

4. Tints (£160)
5. Rear parking (£245)
6. Rain sensor/auto headlights (£90)
7. 5 years servicing (£249)

For the total of £1k more than we had agreed on our original car.

Plus the origial 50% deposit and 2 years interest free deal.

Also going to pick up a cheque for £1800 on the day we collect the car as ours is worth more than the 50% deposit.

All Minis are customer orders, there are no "stock" vehicles built - so this will be a cancelled order.

@ Bradders, have you ordered xenons and clear front indicator lenses they are a must on the mini Are the seats heated they really need to be
