Buying help!

Having lusted after the RRS for several years, am hoping to take the plunge and become the proud owner of one, hopefully within the next few months. Trouble is, having done a little research, it seems like there are lots of different options/possibilities, so am trying to narrow my search field down. Was thinking of a diesel, should I be looking at the V6 or the V8?? HSE? HST? My colour combo would preferably be black exterior with ivory interior, or silver exterior with black interior. Budget is a max of 25k. Like all cars, what are the common faults to look for/avoid????
Thanks in advance, sorry for the questions, just want to make sure I dont buy a shed!

Re: Buying help!

You can get a newer lower mileage V6 HSE for your money or an older hgher mileage v8, all depends what you're after.
I have a V6 which i adequate for my needs as i don't thrash around, there are better cars for this.
Suspension knock is one of the most common problems, i can say this from experience Big Cry
I recommend you source a good warranty Wink
Look for the usual full service history etc.
If you do get one i've just started using Northeast 4x4 in portrack, much cheaper than Stratones Mr. Green

Thanks for the reply Nik, I wont be thrashing around in mine either, have an V8 Audi S4 and my two wheeled GSXR for that! Laughing Nice to know about 4x4 in portrack though, live in Yarm so only up the road. Just reading through all the info on here, and it seems your advice regarding suspension knock seems to be the biggest issue, so thanks again. The search continues!

snap same here, v6 or v8 diesel. be care full no a few people with bad experiances from there. highly recomend durham 4x4 at bowburn.
took my d3 auto to northeast 4x4 to get gbox oil and filter changed and flush as had done high milage but with no gear problem. Charged me for the work on collection of the veh got half way home and wouldnt change gear collectly, had a look under the veh only to find out that the new sump i had paid for hadnt even been fitted Sad , not impressed. rang them straight away. tried to blagg me with bull **** saying that the filter was a bung in the side off the gbox. luckly i had done me home work before. took it down the second time. got talking to the bloke and found out that they had only put 4 litres in gbox. hense gear change probs. they corrected the level they didnt even use computer to correct level and used red atf oil. didnt seem they knew what they were doing.
3rd vist, still gbox changing probs. confronted abt oil tried to tell me they knew what they were doing. had done loads of these he said. hmm think not lol. could even tell me what he took off to change the sump bearing in mind I was waiting with the all 3 times and at max 2hrs each vist. This time he comfermed that the filter and oil had been changed.
well nearly got home and lost drive. had to personally put 5.5l litres of oil back in gear box. no leaks and gess what still my old sump. took to another garage who dignosed torque converter fault as lack off oil. contacted northeast 4x4 to tell what had happened, very sarcastic on the phone was all i got, just sed to bring it down. err for a 4th time.
ha. couldnt even change oil and filter no chance of letting them loose removing my gbox. all in cost me a torque converter, oil and sump. 5 moth later gox now is lovely. later got talking to several people who used that garage to get work carried out and later found out that parts they had paid for hadnt been renewed. be warned be carefull.

Thanks for the heads up.
Myself and my sister have used 4x4 centre and not had a problem, maybe we should quit while we're ahead.
Worth knowing about the price match at Strats Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

hi,i was just like you, allways dreamed off range rover and back in oct took the plunge and bought one and loving it.! few problems i have had is egr valves, common problem on on diesel cars not just range rover.! i had both mine replaced at £400 each but lots of members on here have blanked which is a cheaper option.! also knocking on front end,was £120 fix at landrover nottingham.I have aa breakdown warrantry which paid for egr's minus £35 excess, can claim £500 five times a year,so glad the man on the phone talked me into having this when i was joining aa,saved me a small fortune allready.! i paid £22k for 36000 miles 2.7 hse sport 2006,got full history 22" alloys, all the toys, doing around town 22-23 mpg which i think is great for car this size.!!! had new st focus few years ago and that only did 21 mpg around town so im very impressed at what it does and also pulls very well.! mind you landrover told me its been chipped,so dont no what it be like if took it off.? theres allways plenty on sale so dont rush and keep doing your homework, but one thing which was very important to me was, think about when you want to sell.!! thats why i went for lower miles and service history,so when i sell in next 18 months it should stand out still in croud i hope.!!

I live 7 miles from Stratstone and would not at all, not even for parts. They refused to fix a turbo under warranty on my old 2.7 RRS. After several unreturned phone calls I drove to Ripon - where it was on ramps the same day.

Got a call a couple of days later asking if I would like to have my next service booked in ..... Censored

Ordered new RRS from Ripon - worth the drive, very friendly people. Thumbs Up

JoeRRS - misread your comment about North Eastern 4x4 - thought you were having a go at Stratstone.

Never had an issue with the lads at 4x4, both Warren and Chris have helped me out loads, they arranged to pick both the wife and car up from Sedgefield high street (whilst I was working away) after the RRS decided to drop its drive shafts in the middle of the road - at no extra cost

Ripon for cars, 4x4 for my dearler approved services.

jumps of soap box ... Mr. Green
