I've used them on my last 2 land rovers.

I feel they add a bit more responsiveness at low revs but it may be pseudo . RRS gone

Call me old fashioned, but an air filter is there to filter out particulates in the air. Have you ever held a K&N, or any other pleated gauze air filter up to the light, and looked through it? You can see some pretty big holes in there, and trust me they will let grit through!

Also, these pleated filters have quite a small surface area, and are very thin. As they start to blind, they become more efficient at filtering smaller particles, but less efficient at flowing the volumes of air required to run the engine.

They are ideal for certain racing formula, that don't mind the compromise of letting a small amount of dirt in. These typically would be racing on clean tarmac tracks, or water. A race engine can be stripped, cleaned, and rebuilt several times in a season, but you dont want to be doing this with your car, do you?

We only supply foam air filters, made by Pipercross, or ITG. These have three layers of foam, with different pitch sizes as the air flows through. The coarse layer is very thick, and can capture far more particulates than a K&N, and maintain exceptional air flow for much longer periods. Oh, and you absolutely can not see through them when you hold them up to the light! Mr. Green

If ITG are good enough for formula1, they're good enough for your range rover! Which race teams (other than Nascar) use K&N anyway? Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

To be honest, the difference its going to make to your range rover sport is hardly worth the change. Confused

Quite true, The difference in performance will be negligible, especially on a standard spec car. The people who say that have seen a performance gain are usually those who's old air filter was well past its use by date anyway!

I have customers who use their (highly tuned) Land Rovers in dusty climates, and I just tell them to use standard paper element filters, and change them more regularly.

The original spec paper air filter is capable of delivering good air flow rates when clean, and will give you pretty much the highest level of filtration. Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

I ran one for a little while and noticed no improvement

And the £40 cost against OEM LR filters costing £8 iirc I could change it a few times between service and still save money

......also, I've heard from other forums that a K&N filter is classified as a mod which should be disclosed to your insurer Confused Question Carl
