Tax time again!

I can forgive my sport for most things such as poor economy and the odd fault or two but taxing it at over £460 hurts Big Cry

Don't blame the Sport. Blame the bloody Govt who think that taxing 4x4s heavily will save the environment.

Actually, they don't think that at all, but they reckon that people with 4x4 can afford to pay more tax and therefore they tax them.

Censored ! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Even at £1460......an X5 would never, ever look appealing[/u].............to me anyway. If you don't like paying the "questionable tax", don't buy a Range Rover. You might as well enjoy it, the F Censored s will get the money out of you some other way Evil or Very Mad Mr. Green

IMO considering we are probably weeks away from more riots, the elected (cough, splutter) should be working out how to keep peace and quiet by removing RFL completely at current fuel tax rates or alternatively reducing those rates significantly and keeping the system, one or the other.........the camels back is about to snap! L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

£460 is good. If it makes u feel any better, here in Malaysia Tax for a 5.0 would cost you around £2150, and nearly triple its its registered as a company car. And the cars here cost way more Smile

They won't get rid of the tax disc because the police want it kept. It allows them an excuse to stop people, for a start, and it's another step in the process that allows the system to check we're insured etc. Although as there are thousands of uninsured drivers out there, it doesn't seem to work very well.

Me? I'd scrap the RFL and just add a penny to the fuel tax (if they are absolutely sure they can't live without the money). That way, the more you use, the more you pay. Which seems equitable to me. Although the environmental arguments for the fuel duty levy really annoy me - if I had a decent alternative to using the car for every journey then I'd use the alternative sometimes. But I don't, so I can't.

And make driving uninisured punishable by an automatic 10 year stretch. That should keep the bastards off the road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I don't begrudge paying it, but the govenment have got it so wrong, i do about 10,000 mile a year in my motor and pay £460 ayear road tax, my pal is a driving instructor he does 45,000 ish miles per year and pays £20 a year tax who is polluting the atmosphere more Question as they now tax vehicles on co2

Any form of tax that uses emissions per KM as a charging basis without taking into account the actual number of KM the vehicle travels is, in my opinion illegal. Im surprised somebody hasnt challenged this legally before now.

I have before now pumped out 10 times the CO2 from a lower emitting vehicle than I have one of the higher emitting ones, due simply to the very low mileage on the large engine car and high mileage on the low engine cars - yet due to the emissions figure on the V5, regardless of whether it spends 99% of its time in the garage, the higher emissions car gets hit for higher road tax.

It's an absolute utter joke. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

So do i.
I only do around 6k a year so i'm all for putting the tax onto petrol, pay as you go Thumbs Up
Plus it would eliminate the problem the authorities have with those not taxing cars.
