England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
How can I tell if this really is a HSE?

Although I am interested in a forum members car, I have to keep my options open, so was looking at this:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201207450452255

On the back photo, there is no HSE badge, just SPORT. Seems strange as if you were to de-badge, you'd take all badges off, not just HSE?
If I were to view the car, what are the tell-tale signs that it is/isn't a HSE model?

I'm sure I read somewhere about the cool-box - but wasn't that only included in later HSE models? can anyone clarify? RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

To be 100% sure why not just check the V5

Andy - yes looks like a genuine HSE. One word of warning, you will need a major service at 105,000 miles which will cost you about £900.00 it's a service plus change of belts. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Thanks Ady

It's 91 miles away so just wondered if there was any easy way to tell from the photos etc?
I've seen quite a few mis-leading adverts with 'HSE spec' etc when it's not really a HSE, so didn't want to fall for the trap.

VA - thanks. Setting some ££ aside for it Thumbs Up RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

insurance database has it as an HSE

Apart from that there is no other info on that advert that 100% states it's an HSE?

The vehicle details tab lists HSE stuff yes, but it also lists HSE V spoke alloys (which are not the ones on the car) so the seller has obviously just copied and pasted an HSE spec from another online car.

I'd still want to see a V5 (or a scanned email copy at the very least) RRS gone

Definately an HSE............

Had 19" alloys originally.

Should have a sunroof and adaptive Xenons.

Tints are aftermarket.

Viewing this one tomorrow. Its just had a service, few things changed like ARB bushes, front pads, Stop Ends (?), belts etc
Comes with a few months left of the LR Warranty so its reassuring

Is there anything else I should look out for on the car? And on the test drive? How would I replicate that known 'knock' that the RRS is famous for? RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

Take it out for a drive Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Most 'normal' rough roads will be enough to get it going if it has it. It's a dull clunk like noise.

If it has had the ARB bushes replaced then it probably wont (for a while). maybe worth asking if the new 'non knock' bushes were used in the replacement?

As said before FLRSH, air suspension, and all electrics should be checked. 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

Also take it to 50 and accelerate gently to 70 and coast back down to check that it doesn't have steering wheel wobble at these speeds. Especially as it isnt on the original wheels. 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

Range Rover have a Free 40 point Visual Health Check. Takes about 1 hour if you book it in advance. I think there's also a 120 or 160 point check for around £30. Its for folks like you who want to shell out on a pre-loved RR but need some assurance upfront. I did the free check on my car with the seller's consent BEFORE I paid. I used Land Rover North One Service in Highbury, London

The seller might not want to allow it Rolling Eyes but if they really want to sell the car, and you're really serious about buying it, you can both arrange something. Its worth the independent assessment by RR. Either way, if the seller has nothing to hide, its a total win-win (except the 1 or 2hr delay with RR Smile )

Just an update: I went ahead and bought it Smile looked great in the flesh and had about a 15 mile test drive over a variety of roads. Few months left of warranty sealed the deal.
