Perhaps there are check valves and these have been frozen and damaged and gone normally open without any pump pressure? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

So an electronic valve rather than a check valve, wouldn't the pump have to be on too? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

the pump is definetely off...the water just pours out of the jets on both sides, first time its happened, thought it might be a pump problem or a valve problem, but one way valves normally stop the water coming back not going out....

I've no idea whether its mechanical valves or electronic but cars I've had before have check valves which only allow flow out once the pressure is over say 5psi,if these went they went OC so let water through at low pressure, just a guess really that there may be frost damage.
There is some kind of valving because on mine the headlamp wash stops when the water bottle is running low to preserve water for the windscreen. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

It must be the pump (as said, possibly has frozen at some point, and is now damaged internally), there are no separate valves, just an open pipe to the nozzles. The level sensor stops the h/l wash pump operating when the level gets low to preserve some for screenwashing.Pumps are not that expensive and can be got at behind the N/S front wheelarch liner(fwd of the wheel).
