Spurious error messages are a feature of battery failures. Also of alternator problems too.

Many thanks - is there a specific procedure to replace the battery or simply disconnect, and then reconnect new battery - i seem to remember reading you needed to disconnect battery within 10 seconds or the car blows up - or something like that !! |

With mine I just removed the leads from the old battery, replaced the battery and reconnected the leads. Nothing else needed to be done.
