United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
Excessive Blue Exhaust smoke when in haevy traffic or idling

Hi, I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but just lately I’ve noticed quite a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust, mainly when the car is either in stuck heavy traffic or just standing idle with the engine running for more than a few minutes?

It always seems to clear when driving off after a few minutes but on one occasion it was really bad and it’s clearly not normal.

I have had the car for about a year and a half now with no real problems to speak of and it seems to drive ok in every other respect.

It’s a 2006 HSE diesel with 65k on the clock.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance 2006 TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey,Side Steps,Mud Flaps,20" alloys,LED rear lights,2010 style grill,Soft steering wheel,Land Rover carpets and SS pedals

I will check the oil,
Does the blue smoke indicate lack of oil then?

if it was black then it's quite characteristic of diesel engines with turbos Thumbs Up ============

I'm not sure what the FBH is?,but it's definately coming from the exhaust.
I have checked the oil though, and there is plenty in there, in fact a bit more than plenty, about 10m over the Max mark!
Could this have anything to do with it? 2006 TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey,Side Steps,Mud Flaps,20" alloys,LED rear lights,2010 style grill,Soft steering wheel,Land Rover carpets and SS pedals

FBH is in the engine compartment towards the rear of the 'near side'. Smile

If the oil is 10mm OVER the max mark then get some removed asap

Overfilling oil can cause your symptoms RRS gone
