I had a look through the owners handbook and read that normal cruise control can't be selected instead of ACC... real shame Sad

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Sumatra Black

Just an update, having bought a new radar sensor unit off eBay for £220 I fitted it myself last night and it took 50 minutes including 15 minutes driving around testing it!

I cannot believe Land Rover wanted £1,600 to supply and fit this part, let alone wanted to charge £160 to take my front bumper off, it was such a simple job!

If anyone else needs this unit replacing I'll happily do it for £1,000 Very Happy Thumbs Up LR Defender 90 - gone

RRS SDV6 - current

Do you have details of how to remove the bumper? My ACC unit is pointing down the way and so cruise does not function. Had the same quote from LR to remove bumper, realign and then refit bumper... Seems like something easy enought to do??

It is very straight forward, took me 35 minutes to take it off, replace the unit and refit the bumper, you'd never know I'd been there Cool

First remove the front grill and head lights as per your hand book (look for replacing headlight bulbs). Then follow these instructions... http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...0Cover.pdf

As you can see form my earlier photo you do not need to go any further than step 7 to access the ACC unit, you can leave the washer fluid hose connected as long as you just rest the bumper on the floor in front of the car, you will need to unplug the fog light harness though (visible once you remove the drivers side headlight - its 2 plugs under the light). I'd recommend putting something on the floor 1st to protect the bumper from getting scratched.

Also I found it a lot easier to access the screws under the bumper with the car suspension in off road mode, just make sure everythings clear before connecting the battery as my car lowered itself as soon as the battery was re-connected Thumbs Up LR Defender 90 - gone

South Africa 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Alaska White

Thanks guys for the info.

My wifes '07 RRS was doing strange things on speed control, so I had a closer look.
I didn't have to remove the bumper though. Not sure if the later vehicles are built the same but you can see the unit if you remove the grille and the passenger headlight. I could see my sensor was angled downwards.
I managed to slip my hand under the unit from the front, and lift it up close as dammit to horizontal again

All works fine and I am the hero with the missus Smile
