How hard do you push before your ETC kicks in??

I haven't owned a RRS before so I'm not sure how eager the traction control is to kick in but mine is terrible!!

Now I'm not sure if I have a problem because although it hasn't been noticeable in the 7 months of owning it until now, but then again the weather is Censored and the roads are I guess a lot slippery.

What I'm finding, is when I turn into a right hand bend at moderate speed the traction kicks in something terrible. I would say it's definitely worse on right handers. Now I thought it might be something to do with the tyres I had on my old 19's, but now I've got a set of 22's with brand new tyres and it's still doing the same thing. I know the range rover is a heavy car so throwing it into a corner hard is going to upset it, but I'm talking at slow speeds.

Thought maybe something is wrong with the nearside suspension but I've had the wheels off and checked everything but all seems ok. Has anyone had anything similar ?

Yeah, I guessed there was an issue with mine, and it's not a under inflated tyre and the brakes are definatley not binding.

If the steering sensor is out (ie the car doesn't correctly identify the turning angle of the front wheels), it can cause the DSC to activate and pull the car into what it thinks is the correct line. This can often happen preferentially towards one direction or the other. Try switching the DSC off and see if it still does it.

I agree with Gordon - this is the Directional Stability Control (DSC) doing its job - it is not the Electronic Traction Control - the clue is that it is happening when you are turning. Assuming all is well in the car it would indicate you are cornering too fast for the corner and the car is beginning to shift6 weight and slide (you may not feel it) and the DSC is picking it up and correcting. Last week I was turning a corner at about 50kph in the dry and dsc kicked in - I later found I had a flat rear passenger side tyre. In the corner the tyre was down but not flat and the car must have rolled a bit on the flat (not noticeable by me) and dsc picked this up.

Try driving a bit slower for the conditions Cool

Traction/stability control won't help in slow speed understeer, there are one or two roundabouts near me I have to be careful at, you come up to them cruise round with foot half off the gas and front looses grip, in my case I would say tyres are not at their best despite only being half worn, if you are running new 22s I would think the compound is probably harder/sidewalls not having as much give, which is causing you to understeer

So from what you guys are saying there's nothing wrong with the dsc on mine, it's just the fact it's doing it's job?

I can't remember the last time I felt the DSC and I drive mine... um... with enthusiasm Thumbs Up

now for that you need Bobby!

I suspect it uses many inputs - steering, wheel speed, directional etc ============

The DSC module takes multiple sensor outputs for it's own data input - yaw, acceleration, steering wheel angle etc. If this is something that started recently, has anything been changed/repaired/recalibrated in the front end of the car?

It's not necessarily a sensor issue - worn bushes or tyres, bent arms or steering rack can affect the DSC too.

I had this before. What tyres are you running? I had 22" wheels when I first got mine with non premium brands and it caused the dsc to come on in corners, I thought I was just pushing the car too hard but it was def the tyres.
