RRS 3.6 TDV8

Hi all I'm new in here I'm looking around now for my first range rover I've always wanted one and now the time is right for me I'm looking at a few 3.6 TDV8's are these the best option I'm not rich by any means I'm an average bloke earning average wages just wanted to find out if there are many common faults with this spec I'm looking at spending around £25K so will not be buying a new one also is there anything I should check when buying secondhand any advice would be great.
Cheers

Shane

The common faults are not really engine specific but remember a £25k TDV6 will be younger and probably less miles than a £25k TDV8 Thumbs Up

The 2 most reported "gremlin" faults are Suspension (HDC Fault) and EGR failure (Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve)
Both can be included in warranty (3rd party or LR extended) if buying from a garage...

If buying privatly then remember to select the 3 modes of suspension height to check for dash faults, and drive more than one, then you'll know if one's running a tad sluggish (failing EGR or other issues) RRS gone

I just bought my first RRS a 2008 TDV8 and had the same issues. I am so pleased I went for the V8, not because the V6 is not good but because of residuals and a slightly improved spec eg Brembo brakes.

I recommend Sequent Cars in maidenhead and was happy with the service and price. It had 40k miles and in showroom condition.

Hi RRS SPY the one Shane sent looks good for that price. I paid £30k for mine which had 39k miles on it but had a few extras.

I'd have a look at the one listed above.

I will be looking for the same model in the summer. Mr. Green
Can you buy a rrs private and add lr warranty or does the rrs have to be from a lr dealer for a lr warranty?

We really need to post up a general sticky of sorts showing a check list of things to check when buying a new car, or someone to write up buying a used vehicle guide......we maybe get 20 people a month buying RRS's and all wanting to know the same issues etc....

Maybe a job for VA or Martin Thumbs Up

Sounds great although I didn't realise they had two types of leather in the HSE, I thought they all came with the Premium leather.

I picked my one up just before Xmas. It is a 2008 (08 ) TDV8 that has the side steps, colour coded wing mirrors and removable tow bar. I think everything else like heated windscreen, fridge, Harman Kardon stereo etc are standard. Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

You might be right about the leather so sounds like the sales guy was good. I also have the side steps which are great and just remembered the clout coded (blacked out) rear light clusters which look great at the rear.

The HSE is so well spec'd that a savvy salesman can easily enhance the attractiveness of their car to the prospective punter that hasn't done their homework Sheep

I have to admit, when I first started looking, I was seriously confused as to what was standard and what wasn't. This site was a great help Thumbs Up Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)
