I think there is something in the 2012 amendments to MOTs that will now make this a technical fail. |

How so? (Also, will make no difference to iz6byo 'cos he's in Italy) Does changing from an amber reflector to a white reflector fall foul of some minute detail of the MOT regs? As far as I was aware it is not a legal requirement in the UK to have reflective markers in the headlamps let alone for it to be prescribed which colour they should be. I think it looks good and you're replacing reflective elements, not like you are removing them entirely... |

Correct - but this Forum is read by people in the UK also. Checking that lamps are in good condition is a familiar part of the test, but a new Reason for Rejection (RfR) has been added in respect to the lamps being visible from a reasonable distance. ‘Products on the lens or light source’ is now an RfR as well the previous ‘excessive damage or deterioration’. This new RfR also applies to the checks of all other lamps. |

Thanks for the clarifications Supacat, but being devil's advocate here, does this really apply as the reflector is neither on the lens nor the light source, it merely sits within the headlamp unit separate to both?
